How do I use Depend Basic Nail Care?

Here you will find tips and advice on how to use Depend Basic Nail Care to treat and care for your nails, no matter whether they are healthy or suffer from a specific problem. Remember that nail care is not something you can rush through in five minutes; it takes time. This is a combination of different products to give you an optimal result.

BASIC CARE

Basvård

4203 MyrraoljaWhat you need: Depend Blue or Green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume, an All-Round file, Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Myrrh Oil, Cuticle Cream and a Nailbrush.

Step 1. Allow the Nail & Cuticle Cleanser to work for 2-5 minutes. Clean the cuticle and nail carefully, using the nail brush. Very carefully, push the cuticle back. If you have white deposits of skin at the root of your nail, remove them with the orange stick. If necessary, use a nail buffer or orange stick and carefully scrape out to the sides of the nail to remove skin deposits or any other scaling on the nail root or nail plate. Finish cleansing under warm running water. Rinse thoroughly.

Step 2. Apply some Myrrh Oil to the nail, cuticle and under the nail tip, and massage it in for a few minutes. Myrrh Oil provides intensive care for dry nails that chip or crack easily or are soft. Restores your nails and provides them with nutrients. It has a moisturising effect, strengthens the nail plates and helps to bind them together so that the nails become stronger and more flexible and grow faster.

Step 3. Then apply Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in for a few minutes. Protects and restores cracked, dry or damaged cuticles and hastens regeneration. Cuticle cream is enriched with aloe vera and allantoin, which soften and moisturise the cuticle, providing it with nutrients. For a wonderful feeling of general wellbeing, complete the treatment with Hand cream.

Summary: You should clean your nails with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser once a fortnight. Use Myrrh Oil, Cuticle Cream and Hand Cream every night until the desired result is achieved. It will be 1-4 weeks before you get a satisfactory result, depending on how poor the quality of your nails was to begin with. Be patient – it’s worth it.

DRY/SPLIT NAILS

4207 NagelbandscremeCauses:
– You clean your nails using an acetone-based nail polish remover or use nail polish remover too often.
– You use a nail strengthener containing formaldehyde.
– Your nails often come into contact with cleaning agents.
– You have poor health or are on medication.
– Poor basic care.
– Your nails become drier with age.

What you need: Depend Blue or Green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume, an All-Round file, Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Myrrh Oil, Cuticle Cream and a Nailbrush.

What to do: Wash your hands, and clean your nails using Nail Polish Remover if you have polish on them. File your nails to the desired length and shape. To finish off, file with the finest surface on the All-round File. Place your fingers in a basin of warm water to soften your cuticles. Then use the nail brush to clean under the nails. Apply Nail & Cuticle Cleanser to your cuticles and the base of each nail. Allow the Cuticle Remover to work for 2-5 minutes. Brush the cuticle and nail using the nail brush carefully. Finish brushing under warm running water. Apply some Myrrh Oil to the nail, cuticle and under the nail tips, then massage it in for a few minutes. Allow the oil to penetrate the cuticle and nail, and wait until the surface feels completely dry.

The Nail Oil is specially formulated to be moisture-balancing and to help bind together the nail plates to ensure strong nail growth. Penetrates fast and can be used daily, if required. Then apply Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in for a few minutes.  You should clean your nails with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser every ten days. Use Myrrh Oil and Cuticle Cream every night for 30 days, then at least three times a week.

SOFT NAILS

4202 Powerflex NagelskarkareCause:
– Insufficient vitamins or minerals.
– Your nails often come into contact with water.
– You have poor health or are on medication.
– You have been using false nails for too long.
– Poor basic care.

What you needDepend Blue or Green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume, an All-Round file, Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Myrrh Oil, Powerflex Nail Strengthener, Cuticle Cream and a nailbrush.

Allow the Nail & Cuticle Cleanser to work for 2-5 minutes. Brush the cuticle and nail using the nail brush carefully. Finish brushing under warm running water.

Next apply two thin coats of Powerflex Nail Strengthener (thin coats are stronger than thick ones, and they dry much faster). The Nail Strengthener is enriched with calcium and B5 vitamins to strengthen the structure of the nail plate. It takes immediate effect, protects the nail and makes nails more resistant. Prevents water from penetrating nails and making them soft.

Then apply Myrrh Oil to your cuticles and nails and under the nail tips. Massage the oil in for a few minutes, and allow it to work until the skin and nail surface feel completely dry. The Nail Oil is perfectly balanced to strengthen soft nails. It is enriched with almond oil and vitamin E to nourish and restore nails.

Finish the treatment by applying Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in carefully for a few minutes. You should repeat the treatment with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser every ten days. Preferably, you should use Myrrh Oil and Cuticle Cream every night, but at least three times a week. It is a good idea to touch up with a thin coat of Powerflex Nail Strengthener every two or three days, and apply completely fresh new coats once a fortnight when you give your nails a thorough treatment using Nail & Cuticle cleanser.

APPLY IT RIGHT! A neat, long-lasting manicure

29604062Cause:
– You use a nail polish remover containing oil. Oil can leave a residue on the nail, making it more difficult for the polish to adhere.
– You apply too thick a coat of polish.
– You do not use a base and top coat. You file the tips of your nails with too coarse a file surface, which leaves them uneven.
– You have applied polish to damp nails.
– You washed your hands with soap and water before applying polish; polish will not adhere properly on soap residues.
– You have not used cuticle remover or removed dead skin cells from the nail.

What you need: Depend Blue or Green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume, an All-Round file, a Soft buffing file, Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Protective Base Coat, Quick & Shine Top Coat, Myrrh Oil and Cuticle Cream. If you have ridged nails, you need Beauty Polish instead of Protective Base Coat.

Carefully brush the cuticle and nail clean using the Nail Brush. Finish brushing under warm running water. If your nail surface is now smooth and clean, apply a layer of Protective Base Coat, but if you think your nail surface is a little uneven, we recommend using the Soft Buffing File before you apply the Protective Base Coat. You can use three buffing surfaces for polishing.

Begin with the roughest surface and finish with the grey one to achieve a smooth and glossy surface on which to apply polish. NB! Buff with care and ensure you do not remove too much, or you will make the nail weak.  If there are still ridges on the nail, apply Beauty polish instead of Protective Base Coat.

Apply several thin layers until the nail has a smooth surface. It is important to apply polish in thin layers, as they last longer and dry faster. When you apply Protective Base Coat, one thin layer is enough. Base Coat provides the perfect base for applying nail polish. It protects the nail, preventing pigment from the nail polish penetrating your natural nail, causing discolouration. Helps the nail polish adhere properly, and last longer without chipping. Now you can apply coloured polish. Once again, apply very thin layers. It doesn’t matter if the first and second coats look a bit uneven; just continue to apply thin layers until you are happy with the surface colour. Thin coats dry faster and provide a better, stronger end result. Finish off your manicure by applying two thin coats of Quick & Shine Top Coat. Top Coat provides a super glossy finish, is durable and dries fast. It provides maximum protection that makes your manicure last longer.

Remember to touch up with a thin layer of Quick & Shine Top Coat every one to three days to make sure your nail polish lasts. This means that the transparent Top Coat takes all the knocks instead of the coloured layer, where chips would show.

To maintain good basic care of your nails, we recommend that on the day after you polish your nails, you apply Nail Oil to the cuticles, at the nail root and under the nail tips. Massage the cuticles for a few minutes, and then apply Cuticle Cream to your cuticles and massage it in carefully. Do this at least three times a week. You should clean your nails with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser every ten days.

IF YOU BITE YOUR NAILS

4203,4206,4207 Trestegsmetoden

The best thing to do is to keep your nails so beautiful that you simply can’t bear to bite them! Give your nails a simple manicure once a week. And think before you bite; there are millions of bacteria under your nails!

What you need: Depend Blue or Green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume, an Extra Fine or Fine file, Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Myrrh Oil, Cuticle Cream, Supershine polisher and a nailbrush.

What to do: Wash your hands, and clean your nails using Nail Polish Remover if you have polish on them. File your nails to the desired length and shape. Complete the filing with the finest surface on the Nail File. Place your fingers in a basin of warm water to soften your cuticles. Then use the nail brush to clean under the nails. Apply Nail & Cuticle Cleanser to your cuticles and the base of each nail.

Allow it to work for 2-5 minutes. Brush the cuticle and nail using the nail brush carefully. Finish brushing under warm running water. Polish the nail using the Supershine Nail Buffer. Then apply Myrrh Oil to the cuticle and nail and massage it in for a few minutes. Allow the oil to penetrate the cuticle and nail until the surface feels completely dry. Finish the treatment by applying Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in carefully.

Use the Nail & Cuticle cleanser once a week until you are satisfied with the appearance of your nails and cuticles. Repeat the treatment with Myrrh Oil, Cuticle Cream, the Supershine Nail Buffer and Hand Cream every night for at least a fortnight.

As soon as a nail breaks or splits you need to file it down immediately – as this is when you are most likely to bite it. Always have a file with you in your bag, so you can file a nail down as soon as disaster strikes.

Really pamper your nails – spend a lot of time on them.  That will stop you wanting to bite them. Then it’s time to move on to Depend’s basic care.

DISCOLOURATION

4204 BeautylackCause:
– You have used nail polish remover containing oil, colour or perfume.
– You don’t use a base coat under your nail polish. A base coat protects your nails, so pigment from the nail polish cannot penetrate into them.
– Incorrect technique when removing nail polish means that coloured polish is rubbed into the nail, leading to discolouration.
– Nicotine can also cause discolouration.

What you need: One of Depend’s three Nail Polish Removers without acetone, oil, colour or perfume, Beauty Polish.

What to do:

Camouflaging discolouration: Before you begin, roll the bottle between your palms, and then apply Beauty Polish, which will remove irregularities and camouflage discolouration. It restores a healthy appearance to dull, lifeless nails. Apply thin coats until the discolouration is no longer visible. NB! Several thin coats produce the best result.

To prevent discolouration: Never use a nail polish remover containing oil, colour or perfume, but instead use Depend’s blue or green Nail Polish Removers to remove polish from your nails. This is how to remove nail polish: soak a cotton wool ball or pad in Nail Polish Remover and press it against the nail, then lift it up at an angle without rubbing it against the nail surface. In this way you avoid the risk of nail discolouration. Always use Protective Base Coat under coloured polish. Apply one thin coat. Base Coat provides the perfect base for polishing your nails. It protects the nail, so that pigment from the nail polish cannot penetrate your natural nail to cause discolouration. It helps the nail polish adhere properly, and last longer without chipping. You can find more polish tips under the heading Apply it right!

NAILS WITH RIDGES

4204 BeautylackCause:The nail plate grows in the form of strips that run the length of the nail with small spaces in between. The keratin formed on top of the strip is thinner than that formed between the strips. When the nail is subsequently exposed to wear, for instance from a nail polish remover that is too strong and contains acetone, from cleaning agents, or from long periods in water, the thin outer surface is worn away faster than the thick layer, and the grooves become visible.

What you need: Depend’s blue or green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil, colour or perfume, and Beauty Polish.

What to do:
Camouflage/removal:
Treat the nail using the Buffer File. There are three buffing surfaces. Begin with the roughest surface and finish with the grey one to achieve a smooth and glossy surface on which to apply polish. NB! Buff carefully, and make sure you do not make the nail weak with the first surface, which is the roughest. Then apply thin coats of Beauty Polish until the ridges disappear. Beauty Polish contains microfibres that fill in irregularities in the nail and provide a perfect finish. It restores a healthy appearance to dull, lifeless nails. Removes discolouration and yellowing of the nail by means of violet tones.

Prevention:
Never use a nail polish remover that contains acetone, but choose Depend’s blue or green Nail Polish Remover without acetone, oil or perfume. Always use polish that protects your nails, e.g. Powerflex Nail Strengthener, Protective Base Coat or Beauty Polish if your hands are in water a lot.

SPLIT CUTICLES

4203 Myrraolja

Cause:
– You use an acetone-based nail polish remover or are often in contact with strong cleaning agents without using gloves.
– Poor basic care.
– Your hands are in water a lot or you have dry skin generally.

What you need: Cuticle Cream, Nail & Cuticle cleanser and Myrrh Oil.

What to do: First remove any trace of dead skin. Wash your hands and then put your fingers in warm water for a few minutes. Paint Nail & Cuticle Cleanser onto

the cuticle and a little of the nail plate. Allow it to work for 2-5 minutes. Brush the cuticle and nail carefully using the Nail Brush and finish brushing under warm running water.

Apply Myrrh Oil to the cuticle, nail and under the nail tips. Massage it in for a few minutes, and then allow the oil to penetrate the cuticle and nail until the surface feels dry. Then apply Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in for a few minutes. The Cuticle Cream is enriched with Aloe Vera and Allantoin, which care for and help to restore split, dry or damaged cuticles.

Preferably, you should use Myrrh Oil and Cuticle Cream every day, but at least three times a week. Give your nails the treatment at night, and you will already have softer, more comfortable cuticles the next morning. You should clean your nails with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser every ten days.

OVERGROWN CUTICLES

4206 Nagelbandsrengöring

Cause:
– Poor basic care.

What you need: Nail & Cuticle cleanser, Cuticle Cream and a Nail Brush.

What to do: Wash your hands and then put your fingers in warm water for 10 minutes. Paint Nail & Cuticle Cleanser onto the cuticle and a little of the nail plate. Allow it to work for 2-5 minutes. Carefully brush the cuticle and nail using the Nail Brush. Finish brushing under warm running water. If necessary, carefully press the cuticle back with

an orange stick to the desired level. Be careful not to damage your cuticle when pushing it back.  Depending on how overgrown your cuticles are, the treatment may need to be repeated a few times until the desired result is achieved. Apply Cuticle Cream to the cuticle and massage it in carefully for a few minutes. The Cuticle Cream is enriched with Aloe Vera and Allantoin, which care for and help to restore split, dry or damaged cuticles.

Treat with Nail & Cuticle Cleanser every ten days and use Cuticle Cream at least three times a week, preferably every night.

NB! Never cut the cuticle, as it is extremely easy to damage the skin. The new skin that forms where you cut the cuticle is thicker and harder, and thus more difficult to deal with.
